San Francisco – Google recently announced it has purchased successful social networking application maker Slide, as reported by AFP. The purchase is reportedly part of the company’s initiative to enhance the social aspect of Google services.
As noted in the report, Slide, a San Francisco based startup, is the company behind popular applications such as SuperPoke. Slide founder Max Levchin, is quoted by AFP as stating of the announcement in a website post, “This is a really exciting day for me and my team, but this also marks an exciting development for the social Web… This is a tremendous opportunity for the two companies to come together and change the way people socialize on the Web.”
Google engineering director David Glazer is further quoted as stating in a blog post, “As the Slide team joins Google, we’ll be investing even more to make Google services socially aware and expand these capabilities for our users across the web.”
