Atlanta – An egg recall has been expanded to 380 million after hundreds of people became ill due to a salmonella outbreak. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the Wright County Egg company of Galt, Iowa increased the massive recall as investigations into the outbreak by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Food and Drug Administration ensued.
As noted in the report, eggs from the company, which are distributed across the U.S., have been linked to illnesses in multiple states.
Wright County Egg officials are quoted by the AP as recently releasing the statement regarding the recall, “We are undertaking this additional recall to further protect the safety of consumers — this voluntary measure is consistent with our commitment to egg safety, and it is our responsibility.”
