Mundus, a leading international publisher of educational software and textbooks, has launched an online college to enable learners around the world to pursue vocational programs in the fields of travel and tourism, hospitality, and business administration via the internet. The new educational resource, appropriately named Mundus College, was announced by the president Dr. Dennis Foster at the college’s data center in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
Mundus College’s distance education format enables learners to take online courses in hotel front office operations, food and beverage, resort marketing, travel agency operations, marketing and sales, destinations knowledge, business management, financial planning, and business communications, among other subjects. Mundus College offers three certificate programs: the Travel Professional curriculum, the Hospitality Professional curriculum, and Business Administration. Each curriculum provides hands-on experience incorporating the latest skills and technologies, based on proprietary computer software, electronic textbooks, and testing developed by Mundus Institute.
Learners who enroll in the college are able to study on their own time, at their own pace, in the convenience of their own homes or offices. The college’s courses incorporate the same software, textbooks, learning tools, and tests that are used in college classrooms and corporate training centers licensed by Mundus Institute.
According to Dr. Foster, the creator of the Mundus curricula, software, and textbooks, the institute’s courses are unique in the field of vocational education, combining practical occupational skills with established academic standards and a focus on situational analysis, problem solving, and cross-cultural awareness.
“It is not nearly enough to train individuals to perform perfunctory tasks,” Dr. Foster stated. “We must also help learners understand social, organizational, and technological systems; allocate resources; make effective decisions; and work, communicate, and interact with people from culturally diverse backgrounds. Teachers, students, and employers must work together to achieve a commitment to lifelong learning and the dedication to the highest standards of integrity, service, and professionalism, not only in the work place, but in all aspects of personal endeavor.”
Mundus Institute already provides distance learning to students in remote regions of Africa, the Australian outback, Asia, and the Middle East.
Mundus is the world’s largest international publisher of educational software, textbooks, and teaching tools, by number of students. Since the institute was founded in 1974, Mundus curricula, software, and textbooks have been implemented by more than 18,000 universities, colleges, high schools, corporations, travel agencies, and airlines in 81 countries.
