Darmstadt, Germany – German pop singer Nadja Bennaissa received a suspended sentence after being convicted of grievous bodily harm last week. As reported by Reuters, Bennaissa, was convicted of the crime after confessing to knowingly exposing two men to HIV, one of whom contracted full blown AIDS.
Bennaissa, who shot to fame with the German girl-band No Angels, is quoted in the report as stating to the Darmstadt court during the trial, “I made a huge mistake…I was a coward. I’m sorry from the bottom of my heart. I wish I could turn back the clock and make it all not happen.”
Bennaissa will reportedly be required to undergo counseling and must perform community service as part of her sentence.
