California – Many wineries are making changes to position themselves better for competing for the dwindling tourist dollar. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), several wineries have added attractions to make them more than just a stop and sip locale.
Chris Hall, proprietor and vice president of sales at Long Meadow Ranch Winery & Farmstead in the Napa Valley, which has included a restaurant on their list of add ons, is quoted by the AP as stating, “The experience we’re trying to create is a destination experience… You can come and eat the heirloom tomato salad at the restaurant, you can take the tomatoes home for yourself from the farmer’s market. You can get the seeds to grow your own at the nursery… It’s a full circle.”
