Los Angeles – Widely successful 1950’s singer and entertainer Eddie Fisher has died. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Fisher passed away Wednesday at age 82 after hip surgery complications.
In addition to his career success, Fisher became widely known for his high profile marriage to fellow entertainer Debbie Reynolds, whom he divorced to marry Elizabeth Taylor, and subsequent personal troubles. Fisher’s list of hit recordings includes “Wish You Were Here” and “Count Your Blessings.”
Fisher’s family is quoted as saying of his death in a statement released by publicist British Reece, “Late last evening the world lost a true America icon… One of the greatest voices of the century passed away. He was an extraordinary talent and a true mensch.”
Fisher had four children including actresses Carrie Fisher and Joely Fisher.
