Lithonia, GA – Leader of the Atlanta based Baptist megachurch, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, Bishop Eddie Long recently spoke to his parishioners about the sex abuse allegations that have been brought against him. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Long, who stands accused of using his position to coerce four young men into having sexual relations with him, vowed on Sunday to fight against the allegations.
Long is quoted by the AP as stating to his church, “I feel like David against Goliath. But I got five rocks, and I haven’t thrown one yet… I have never in my life portrayed myself as a perfect man. But I am not the man that’s being portrayed on the television. That’s not me. That is not me.”
Several of his church members have publicly expressed their support for the pastor in spite of the accusations. The four men, who were purportedly 17 and 18 at the time of the alleged occurrences, have filed lawsuits against him.
