U.S. – A new study suggests happiness levels are not predetermined as long argued by psychologists. As reported by LiveScience.com, researchers found that happiness or long-term life satisfaction levels can change over time.
Study author Gert Wagner, a researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Germany, is quoted in the report as stating of further research findings that money does not equate to happiness, “People with a lot of money are more satisfied with their lives… but mainly due to the more interesting and challenging jobs they have… Money is simply a byproduct of good and satisfying jobs. If you want to be satisfied with your life, you must spend time with your friends and your family.”
More information about the study may be available in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
