LOUISVILLE, KY — October 2010 — AAF International, manufacturer of American Air Filter and AAF products, announces the release of a new case study featuring MEGAcel™ I HEPA filters.
A 595 bed hospital system expressed the need to improve Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) in critical areas of the hospitals. With the understanding that hospital related infections can cause significant economic consequences to any healthcare facility, AAF was prepared to offer practical solutions for the hospital system.
AAF provided the hospital system with several alternative solutions. Ultimately, the hospital system decided to upgrade its three campuses to AAF’s MEGAcel I HEPA filters for the critical areas of the hospitals. MEGAcel I filters incorporate AAF’s unique Helior™ media, a proprietary, durable ePTFE media combining ultra-high efficiency with extremely low pressure drop. This solution gave the hospital optimal IAQ levels.
Once the MEGAcel I filters were installed, a particle count test was conducted in the air handling unit. This test measured the amount of particulates in the system upstream and downstream from the newly installed MEGAcel I filters compared to the previously installed MERV 14 filters. The results verified dramatic improvements to the hospital’s air quality.
