Washington – Two U.S. congressmen are seeking answers to questions about Facebook’s recent purported privacy breach. As reported by AFP, Representative Joe Barton, R-Texas, and Representative Edward Markey, D-Massachusetts, have asked the founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg how user information was transmitted, via applications, to companies, which violated privacy terms of the social networking site.
Facebook engineer Mike Vernal is quoted by AFP as stating of the issue in a blog post, “Nevertheless, we are committed to ensuring that even the inadvertent passing of UIDs is prevented and all applications are in compliance with our policy.”
Vernal is further quoting as asserting, “Our policy is very clear about protecting user data, ensuring that no one can access private user information without explicit user consent… We take strong measures to enforce this policy, including suspending and disabling applications that violate it.”
