Taipei – A Taipei office worker has made plans to marry herself. As reported by Reuters, Chen Wei-yih is set to hold a marriage celebration with 30 friends next month, but says she will be without a groom.
Chen, 30, is quoted by Reuters as stating of her decision, “Age thirty is a prime period for me. My work and experience are in good shape, but I haven’t found a partner, so what can I do?”
Chen further notes, “It’s not that I’m anti-marriage. I just hope that I can express a different idea within the bounds of a tradition…I was just hoping that more people would love themselves.”
Chen, whose marriage to herself cannot be made official, expressed that she would be open to marrying a man later on. She will reportedly honeymoon alone in Australia.
