New York – DreamWorks Animation and social-networking firm Zynga recently teamed up for a unique means of promoting the studio’s latest film release. As reported by Reuters, the studio temporarily integrated aspects of the movie “Megamind” into Farmville, which is available on Facebook and MySpace, to increase awareness of its release.
Anne Globe, head of worldwide marketing for DreamWorks Animation, is quoted in the report as stating of the effort, “We are always looking for new ways to connect with movie fans, and the biggest shift in marketing mix has been that more dollars nowadays go online… FarmVille is huge, and the comedic nature of the film lends itself to the fun of the game play.”
As noted in the report, Farmville has 17 million users daily across the globe.
