London – Is Facebook really fit for a queen? As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Queen Elizabeth II has joined the popular social networking site, launching several pages that will keep users up to speed about her public engagements.
As noted in the report, the official pages of the British monarch will not be on a personal account, therefore users will be unable to submit friend requests for the pages. However, comments and messages can be left on them for Buckingham Palace.
A royal official, who is stated by the AP to have spoken on condition of anonymity, is quoted as stating of the social media venture, “The decision went right up to the queen… If you are going to have an online presence in 2010, you just have to be on Facebook.”
