Los Angeles – Nancy O’Dell has been chosen as the replacement for longtime “Entertainment Tonight” host Mary Hart following her upcoming exit from the program. As reported by TV Guide, the show’s executive producer Linda Bell Blue made the announcement of O’Dell’s plans to join the program after the end of its 30th season on Monday.
O’Dell is quoted in the report as stating of joining the show, “I remember watching ‘Entertainment Tonight’ when it first premiered and dreaming about working for the show someday… I am honored to be the one chosen to fill a TV legend’s seat and I hope I can do her proud!”
Hart is further quoted as stating of her decision to leave the show after 29 years as host, “Leaving this job was not an easy decision, but knowing I will pass the baton to Nancy O’Dell makes that decision much easier… Nancy is a talented and respected entertainment correspondent. We have spent many years working on opposite sides of the celebrity battlefield and I know the show will flourish with Nancy as co-anchor.”
