West Hollywood, CA (WiredPRNews.com) Los Angeles based street artist Epelog seems to be behind the new Perez Hilton portrait that has popped up on Sunset Boulevard. Speculation is that Epelog is following in Banky’s footsteps of putting up new art work around Hollywood.
Street-art fans and bloggers have been buzzing this week with sightings of new painting and stencils that appear to be the work of a new street artist named Epelog.
Their is one at Sunset and Laurel dubbed, “Lady GaDiver,” on a telephone booth by Sunset Carwash, featuring a deep sea diver kissing a beautiful bikini clad woman. Then there’s one known as, “Perez Hilton Love Thyself,” spotted on Sunset Boulevard, that features the celebrity blogger kissing a mirror image of himself with a red heart underneath him.
A third piece depicting a Koby Bryant slam dunking the earth has also been found in the Hollywood Hills.
Epelog’s website (www.epelog.com) offers some evidence. There, you can see his latest works, and pictures are included of “Perez Hilton Love Theyself,” “Lady GaDIver,” “Brando and Brando” and “Koby’s World” and “Happy Umpa Loompa” and “Monkey Masks”.
Last week at the Oscars there was a stir caused when someone wearing a Banksy style monkey mask was seen handing out monkey masks to the crowd. Epelog has posted a video of the Banksy imposter at the Oscars on Youtube, adding speculation that Epelog is a fan of the most famous street artist from England. Two of Epelog’s pieces have been right next to Banky’s work. “Lady GaDiver” is right underneath the Banksy tagged billboard on Sunset and “Perez Hilton Love Thyself” is across the street from “Charlie Brown Firestarter”.
The sudden rise of his art is causing quite a stir — and not just for the street art fans. Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton dubbed Epelog as, “LA’s own Banksy,” and “You can definitely see the Banksy influence, but he’s got a style of his own!”
The artist identity has remained a mystery.
