NYC – A casino bus accident in New York City left 14 passengers dead, and injured several others on Saturday. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the tour bus had left the Mohegan Sun casino in Connecticut, and was en route to New York when it came into contact with a guardrail, turned on its side and hit a pole. Several passengers were treated for serious injuries at hospitals in the area following the bus accident. Dr. Ernest Patti, who was the senior attending physician at St. Barnabas hospital, is quoted in the report as stating of the range of injuries sustained by patients in the bus accident who were treated there, “We’ve had skull fractures, rib fractures … internal bleeding, we’ve had lung contusions.” The driver of the bus was stated by Patti to be “awake and conscious” after the crash.
The bus operator, World Wide Travel, released the statement after the fatal bus accident, “We are a family-owned company and realize words cannot begin to express our sorrow to the families of those who lost their lives or were injured in this tragic accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.”
The circumstances surrounding the tour bus accident are currently under investigation.
