VANCOUVER (WiredPRNews.com) Leaders of professional services firms with teams that regularly pitch new business will want to check out “Better Pitching,” a new one-day workshop created by Bill Baker, founder and principal of BB&Co Strategic Storytelling and top business development, marketing and fundraising expert Linda Oglov.
“Pitching is a double-edged sword for most companies,” says Linda Oglov. “On one side, it is a necessary evil in the search for more business and has the potential to create lots of anxiety, insecurity and dread. But there is a lot of good that can come from pitching, especially when you do it successfully. We help teams identify and embrace that good and create strategies to ensure they are always working towards it.”
The “Better Pitching” workshop outlines the fundamentals of what distinguishes good pitches from bad and prescribes several building blocks for successful pitches. The workshop also addresses common pitfalls and mistakes companies make when preparing for and delivering pitches and offers strategies for making the best use of the individuals on a pitch team.
Believing that every team is different with its own unique strengths and weaknesses, the workshop is specifically designed to help teams that regularly pitch together “find their groove” as a pitch team. Through a series of exercises and group discussions, Baker and Oglov help pitch teams identify and understand the situations and circumstances that enable them to excel and those that deter them from success. The outcome of Baker and Oglov’s workshop is a Pitch Blueprint that pitch teams can go back to again and again.
“Just as individuals can find their groove in their professional life, so can a team,” says Bill Baker. “But each team is unique. Therefore, a big driver of our workshops is helping a team of individuals figure out the specific elements that enable that team to get in their zone and have the best chance for success.”
Recently, Bill and Linda shared some key insights from the workshop at a SMEI event held in Vancouver on October 20.
“Bill and Linda provided our attendees with an enjoyable presentation loaded with actionable information. They also seemed to really enjoy sharing their insight and experience: the mark of true professionals,” said Lynn Harrison, principal of Harrison Marketing, who organized the event.
