Matt Polley will be hosting a music festival to encourage young voters at West Street Plaza, Saturday June 9th, from 4-10 P.M. Unfortunately, Rock the Vote was already taken. Polley is running for City Council At Large, and throughout his race he has had a great deal of young supporters.
“I wanted young people to have a “Rock the Vote” experience” Polley Said.
Rock the Vote’s mission is to engage and build political power for young people in the country. Since it was founded twenty-one years ago it has registered more than five million young people to vote, and has become a trusted source of information for young people about registering to vote, and casting a ballot. Polley is hoping to spread the same experience throughout Reno.
“Help us get the word out on the importance of voting and join us Downtown Reno for a Live Concert by Reno’s most popular bands” Polley Said.
The line-up of those bands include: Drinking with Clowns, The Novelists, Kate Cotter, Tyler Stafford, Spacecrafter, Tony Walker, and Eric Andersen to name a few.
“I’m really excited to be part of such a cool event in support of Matt’s campaign for City Council At Large” Eric Anderson, musician, said excitedly. “We’ve lined up some of the best acts in town to play Polley-Palooza.”
The music will be free, but live music isn’t the only thing on the menu at Polley-Palooza. $25 gets you all you can drink, and a BBQ.
“We as the musicians want to encourage everyone to get involved in the community, and to get out and vote on June 12” Anderson said.
Early Voting Begins May 26 to June 8 Primary Election is June 12, 2012.
