Short- term payday loan company Payday Express has once again pledged to maintain its focus on staff training, development and progress within the company.
Payday Express, which provides an online payday loan service, offers many opportunities for staff to broaden their knowledge and every effort is taken to ensure that those working in each department have as much experience in as many areas of the business as possible.
Richard Turner, human resources adviser at the company, said: “We want staff to enjoy coming in to work, to feel challenged in their jobs, and to build long-term careers with us.”
Last month, two staff members – Kristina Winch and Lauren Johnson – had the opportunity to apply the experience they had gained in their initial Payday Express roles to their new roles. Kristina was promoted from administrator to facilities co-ordinator and Lauren moved from contact centre support agent to marketing assistant.
Kristina joined Payday Express in 2009 after finishing her A levels at sixth form and her role as administrator gave her the necessary experience to take on her new position.
Her previous role had developed to a point where she was already dealing with maintenance, health and safety, suppliers and contracts, and the company recognised her potential and skills.
During her first month in the role she has already successfully completed her Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace course and made many successful changes to the building, including making improvements to the staff kitchen area, which has helped increase staff satisfaction.
“I am excited about how far we have come as a business and our growth prospects for the future. The opportunity I have been given can encourage a vision for other members of staff, which in turn will make our company even stronger,” said Kristina.
Lauren joined Payday Express in April 2010 as a contact centre agent, a customer service focused role dealing with customers on the telephone and via email. This interaction with customers has given Lauren an understanding of their expectations and she plans to take this experience into the marketing department, where she will feed it into decisions about the website and even into ideas for competitions on Facebook.
Lauren said: “Payday Express is excellent at encouraging growth within the company. Sharing knowledge gained in previous departments and applying this to new roles is a great way to strengthen each department and allow the company to grow and adapt to continually meet the needs of its customers.”
Payday Express has always focused on recognising potential and encouraging staff members to follow their chosen career paths, even if these involve changing departments. In line with this, vacancies in all departments are always posted internally before being advertised externally and where an individual demonstrates potential and drive, but lacks the skills, the company will lend support with internal and external training.
