John Ratzenberger, the actor who portrayed Cliff Clavin on “Cheers,” has just launched a crowdfunding campaign on FundAnything.com to raise funds for “John Ratzenberger’s American Made,” a new TV series that will explore manufacturing in America, as well as the skilled labor force behind the machines to show how things are made, and the spirit behind keeping products made in America.
“My new series will highlight American manufacturing all around the country, and feature interviews with factory owners, bosses, workers, suppliers and end users to get a good look at what goes into manufacturing today,” said Ratzenberger. “Nothing happens in business until somebody builds something.”
Ratzenberger, who played a mailman on TV, and was a carpenter in real life before his acting career, is a passionate proponent of manufacturing in America, and believes that the country must restore admiration for our skilled labor force and stimulate the development of training and apprenticeship programs to prepare our workforce for manufacturing jobs of the 21st Century.
His FundAnything campaign will cover all production costs for the first few episodes of his series. Visitors to his campaign have several contribution levels to choose from, each with its own personal incentives from John Ratzenberger himself. The incentives include American made products and discounts; limited edition, collectible memorabilia from Cheers and his Pixar movies; tickets to attend fun “American Made Festival” events with Ratzenberger and other celebs and partners, and even the opportunity to secure a producers title on the ending credits of the series.
“John’s campaign to raise money for the production of ‘American Made’ stresses the same ‘can do’ philosophy as our crowdfunding platform,” said Bill Zanker, who together with Donald Trump founded FundAnything.com. “In America, a great idea, grit and determination, plus a lot of hard work are the pathways to success.”
Ratzenberger hosted “Made in America” on the Travel Channel from 2004 – 2008. His new program will feature great American companies, celebrate the American worker, stimulate veteran job placement, and empower the consumer to “Buy American.” Ratzenberger wants his new program “John Ratzenberger’s American Made” to help make and keep money in the U.S. economy. He invites all Americans to participate with him in this non-political, non-partisan call to action.
About John Ratzenberger
A multi-Emmy-nominated actor and accomplished screenwriter, director, producer and author, John Ratzenberger may be best known for playing mail carrier Cliff Clavin on the long-running NBC sitcom “Cheers.” Though never a postman in real life, he did work as a carpenter, archery instructor and oyster boat crewman, and also created and starred in the Travel Channel series “Made in America,” which spotlighted U.S.-made goods and workers. Along with work in feature films, from major studio blockbusters like “Superman” and “Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back,” to independent films like the recent drama “The Woodcarver,” animation has been a natural home for his versatile vocal talents. He also holds the distinction of being the only actor to participate in every Pixar film ever made. He is currently a recurring character on the FX hit TV show “LEGIT,” and when not filming, splits his time between speaking about the American skilled labor force, and spending time with his family in his home state of Connecticut.
