As part of his trip to Mali , HM King Mohammed VI, accompanied by Malian president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, launched, on Saturday in Diago town, thirty kilometers from Bamako, the construction works of a cement plant.
This cement plant, to be carried out by the Cimat-Cimaf group, has a production capacity of 500,000 tons of cement yearly (extendable to 1,000,000 tons per year).
It will include a crushing workshop (ball mill with a capacity of 70 tons/hour equipped with a dynamic separator and a bag filter), a bagging and shipping workshop with two rotary packers in bulk, covered storage halls for clinker and additions, and administrative, commercial and technical buildings.
The plant’s activity will consist of importing clinker from two cement plants in Morocco, unloading it at the port and carrying and crushing it for the production and marketing of all types of cement. This project, to be built over a surface area of 10 hectares, will be constructed within 18 months and is worth 30 million euros.
On the same day, HM King Mohammed VI also inaugurated with President Keita, the Malian section of the Trans African optical fiber cable.
The optical fiber cable links the city of Sikasso (border of Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso) to Gogui (border of Mauritania).Stretching over 1,064 km, this cable is funded by Sotelma (subsidiary of Maroc Telecom) and spanned eleven months of building works for an amount of 4 bln CFA francs (nearly 6 million euros).
It is part of the Trans African optical fiber cable of the Maroc Telecom group linking Morocco, Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger along 5,698 km. It had required two years of works and an investment of 13 bln CFA francs.
The setting up of this cable is meant to meet the growing demand for high-speed Internet by the international bandwidth.
This cable seeks to improve the connectivity of the region’s countries and secure telecommunication traffic.
