Attorney General Michael Mukasey reportedly collapsed while delivering a speech and was subsequently taken to George Washington University Hospital.
Wired PR News.com – As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the 67 year-old was speaking to the Federalist Society at a hotel in Washington when he lost consciousness on Thursday night. He was said to have been visibly shaking while addressing the crowd.
At the time of the initial AP report, Mukasey’s condition after being taken to the hospital was not known. However, he was said to have been conscious during part of his ride in the ambulance, with an observer commenting that the Attorney General looked as though he was talking. Later reports state that he is now alert, but has been admitted to the hospital.
Also noted in the report were statements from Dana Perino, White House Press Secretary that President Bush had been told of Mukasey’s condition. Perino released the statement “The president has him in his thoughts and will be kept apprised and hopes that he will be back up and at ’em again soon.”
