Alternative Medicine is now embraced as a viable solution for healing child ailments.
Wired PR News.com – The use of alternative medicine has become more widespread throughout the U.S., with kids now being part of the phenomenon branded as here to stay. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), a national study has shown that an estimated one of every nine children and teenagers use alternative medicine. The findings in the governmental study were deemed “amazing” by one of the authors considering that individuals within these age groups are typically healthy.
As noted in the AP report, the habits of parents and family members had a significant impact on the use of non-traditional medicines and therapies in young people. The study also revealed that over one third of US adults use alternative medicine. Included in the scope of this category were acupuncture, yoga, massage, and other treatments however, vitamins and mineral supplements were not included.
Although many members of the medical profession do not endorse alternative medicine, some suggest that it may be a mistake to criticize it as a whole, especially after recent reports by drug makers that some cold medicines should not be used by young children.
