Wired PR News.com – SNL alum and 30 Rock star, Tina Fey, has earned the title of Entertainer of the Year by the Associated Press’ (AP) annual poll. As reported by the AP, the star was voted number one among news editors and broadcast producers throughout the United States. Members of the AP chose Fey as the entertainer who impacted pop culture most significantly in 2008.
As noted in the report, Fey’s impersonations of Governor Sarah Palin as Republican vice presidential candidate had a huge impact on earning her the recognition. As quoted of Sharon Eberson of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, “Tina Fey is such an obvious choice… She gave us funny when we really needed it and, in a year when women in politics were making huge strides, Fey stood out in the world of entertainment.”
Tina Fey worked as head writer for Saturday Night Live until 2006, before winning three Emmys for her current television comedy “30 Rock.”
Robert Downey Jr. made second place on the AP list, and the late Heath Ledger came in third.
