Steve Jobs plans to stay on as Apple CEO amidst public concerns about his health.
Wired PR News.com – Steve Jobs has stated there will be no change in CEO, after the recent surfacing of public concerns about his health. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the founder and current Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Apple Inc. publicly released a letter explaining that his noticeable weight loss is attributed to a hormone imbalance that has been confirmed through blood tests, and will require a simple treatment to correct.
Jobs was previously treated for pancreatic cancer, which he announced in 2004 was successful in ridding him of the disease. Many had speculated on his health condition in 2008 after he appeared gaunt after significant weight loss. As noted by the AP, the speculation prompted worries that Apple would have to change leadership, which were escalated after the December announcement of Jobs’ expected absence at Macworld’s Tuesday conference in giving his yearly keynote address.
The recent information about Jobs’ health condition, and intentions to remain CEO helped ease fears of investors, with company shares showing an increase of over 4 percent on Monday.
