Obama has reportedly chosen Leon Panetta as head of CIA
Wired PR News.com – President Elect Barack Obama has made his choice for CIA head, and to some it is a surprise. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Obama’s pick, Leon Panetta, is the former White House chief of staff for the Clinton Administration. The announcement of Panetta has yet to be made official by Obama.
Panetta’s lack of experience in intelligence makes him a surprise choice for the post to some. The former California congressman served as Office of Management and Budget director as well as on the Iraq Study Group, which as noted by the AP, reported in 2006 recommendations to reverse the war in Iraq. Currently, Panetta is director of the California State University, Monterey based Institute for Public Policy. Panetta is said to have played a significant role in the establishment of the university.
