Lisa Marie Presley extends condolences to Travolta family and defends shared religious practice.
Wired PR News.com – Lisa Marie Presley has recently released an online statement extending condolences to the family of 16 year-old Jett Travolta, and also defending them against attacks on their shared religion, Scientology. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Presley released a statement through her MySpace blog commenting, “I am writing this because I have noticed that for the most part, people and the media have been very sympathetic and respectful, but there are those certain ones that want to use this horrible tragedy as an opportunity to once again, blame and-or attack Scientology.” Presley is further noted to state that those who practice the religion do not shun necessary medical care as many assume.
Jett Travolta died last week, after reportedly hitting his head during a seizure at his family’s vacation home. Presley, along with parents of Jett, John Travolta and Kelly Preston, are among a number of famous individuals who practice Scientology. Actor Tom Cruise has become widely recognized as one of the most outspoken supporters of Scientologist teachings.
