Despite the difficulty in finding jobs in the present economy, the nursing industry has trouble finding applicants for positions.
Wired PR News.com – The recession has brought about a number of job losses, drastically increasing the number of individuals who are looking for work. Despite that fact, one major industry has been shown to have trouble finding applicants for positions. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), recruiters for jobs in the nursing industry are finding themselves desperate for applicants, and have resorted to creative means to attract new hires.
One home based nursing care provider is stated to have given health care workers champagne and a chance to win extravagant prizes. David Curtis, the company’s president is quoted as commenting, “We’re committed to finding ways to creatively engage with passive job seekers.”
Understaffing in the industry, along with the problems it entails, is expected to continue to be a growing issue. Issues with working conditions, training, program funding, and other problems are said to be major causes of the lack of individuals applying for nursing positions, or entering nursing programs.
