Advocates for wind energy expansion are seeking financial support from stimulus aid.
WiredPRNews.com – Wind energy activists are trying to get aid for related grants and tax incentives from Obama’s multibillion-dollar recovery package. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the groups are hoping the support will be beneficial in offsetting the effects of the economy that have had an impact on the wind power industry.
Wind power is reported to have made gains over the last year, and could continue to see steady increases with the implementation of Obama’s plans to heavily increase production of renewable energy over the next few years. However, as noted in the AP report, many related projects have been placed on hold due to financing issues.
Greg Wetstone with the American Wind Energy Association is quoted as stating, “Without this grant program or something very much like it, we’re looking at a very difficult year in 2009 and maybe 2010 as well.”
