Obama intends to nominate Florida emergency manager as Head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Wired PR News.com – President Barack Obama has made his choice for head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Obama plans to nominate Craig Fugate, Florida’s emergency manager, for the position.
As noted by the AP, Fugate has served as Division of Emergency Management Director for Florida since 2001, under Republican Governors Jeb Bush and Charlie Crist. He also gained experience working as assistant director of the organization for over four years. Fugate is reportedly set to meet with Gulf Coast officials along with Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano on Thursday.
Napolitano is quoted by the AP as stating of Fugate, “The work he’s accomplished in Florida serves as a model for other states… He will be a tremendous asset to FEMA and it’s employees.”
