Three individuals are accused of a possible hate crime in gay bar attack.
Wired PR News.com – Three men may be charged with a hate crime after an alleged attack at a gay bar in Galveston, Texas. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the men were stated by witnesses to throw rocks into Robert’s Lafitte bar, which resulted in at least two men sustaining injuries. One of the rocks purportedly weighed four pounds.
Twenty year-old Lawrence Lewis III, 18 year-old Lawrneil Lewis, and Alejandro Sam Gray, who is 17 are reportedly being held on charges of aggravated assault. A hate crime “enhancement” was stated to be authorized by the district attorney’s office due to the attacker’s targeting the victims based on sexual preference. Designating the attack as a hate crime may elevate charges on the attackers to first degree offenses.
As further noted by the AP, one of the victims required medical treatment for an injury to the back of his head.
