Dallas, Texas (WiredPRNews.com) — This year we’ll have three Friday the 13ths on the calendar. Despite the urban legends and superstitions, not everybody thinks Friday the 13th is an unlucky day.
Take recording artist Alan Steward. He insisted that iTunes and Amazon.com would not release his latest album until Friday the 13th of March. Alan prefers to make all major decisions on the 13th, his lucky day. He proposed to his wife on Friday the 13th and he passed his pilot’s license on Friday the 13th.
Chillout music star Alan Steward adopted Friday the 13th as his lucky day years ago when his musical career was just getting started and he still needed a day job to survive. The job was at a commercial laundry facility in the Netherlands. After work, Alan would use the showers at the laundry before going home. But on one faithful Friday the 13th, Alan heard a loud noises when taking his shower. It seemed to Alan that somebody was rearranging the furniture on the floor above the showers. The noise went on and got louder until suddenly, the electricity went out. Once everything went dark, Alan discovered an orange glow coming from the shower door cracks.
Alan finished his shower and put his clothes on but when he stepped out of the shower, he got the shock of his life. The building was on fire and had totally collapsed around him. Only the shower stalls in the middle of the building remained totally untouched. Alan found himself in the open air and surrounded by firemen who were probably even more shocked then he was. Nobody realized that there was still somebody in the building, Fridays after work.
Talk about being cool under pressure. Alan, the self proclaimed “King of Chill” simply walked past the firemen and on to home as nothing had happened. After that experience, he adopted Friday the 13th as his lucky day.
Alan no longer needs his day job. He is now an established recording artist and record producer with four albums under his belt and credits with Grammy winning artists. He credits his success to scheduling all major events in his life at the13th of the month. His album entitled “Licensed to Chill’ will be on iTunes and in stores world-wideon March 13th. The album features spiritual chants in five different languages and dialects. I guess that’s his way to show thanks for a miracle.
