California radical Sara Jane Olson is scheduled to be released from prison next week.
Wired PR News – California is scheduled to release 1970s radical, Sara Jane Olson from prison next week. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the former fugitive and member of the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA) is set to be released after seven years amid objections from police leagues in Los Angeles as well as Minnesota.
As noted in the report, Olson spent 25 years as a fugitive following the attempted murder of police officers and a bank robbery that left a mother of four dead. She was arrested in 1999 and pleaded guilty to having some involvement in a list of crimes connected to the SLA. Olson was subsequently released temporarily from prison after a miscalculation of her parole date last year, but re-arrested five days later.
Olson’s pending release has garnered much attention from those supporting as well as opposing the 62 year-old gaining her freedom.
