Former President George W. Bush’s attempts to raise funds for a presidential library are met with adversity.
Wired PR News – Former President George W. Bush has begun fundraising efforts for his presidential library. As reported by POLITICO, attempting to raise $300 million for the complex, which is to be placed on the campus of Southern Methodist University (SMU), is expected to be a not so easy task due to negative views regarding Bush’s presidency and the current economic circumstances.
In addition to a presidential library, the complex is expected to feature a museum and policy institute. Regarding views about the new plans for the SMU campus, president of the university R. Gerald Turner is quoted as stating, “We’ve certainly had to defend our decision, but absolutely feel like it was the right one… The overall sentiment on the faculty is that whether they agreed with the president personally or not, it’s great to have these papers and this resource on campus.”
