The failed inspection is said to be the seventh for the Dallas jail system.
Wired PR News – The Dallas County jail has reportedly failed to pass a yearly inspection again. As reported by KERA News, the jail system has failed inspections six times prior.
Issues contributing to the seventh failed inspection, which the Texas Commission on Jail Standards were noted to have spent a week assessing, include those with facilities as well as personnel. County Commissioner John Wiley Price is quoted in the KERA News report as stating of the problems, “Some of the bailiffs left individuals in the holding cells and apparently went to lunch, and that’s a no-no. They were not happy with us with regards to that, and they shouldn’t be.”
Other reported significant issues include problems with plumbing. A meeting is scheduled for May for officials to discuss solutions for dealing with the problems.
