Leighton Meester signs record deal with Universal Republic.
Wired PR News – “Gossip Girl” star Leighton Meester has signed a record deal. As reported by Reuters, Meester has obtained a recording contract with Universal Republic via Time-Act Music, and is expected to release her first album this fall.
The 23 year-old actress reportedly began recording songs in March with high profile producers such as Polow Da Don and Harvey Mason Jr., who have worked with megastars such as Fergie and Justin Timberlake, respectively.
Meester became widely known after taking on her role in the CW hit “Gossip Girl.” As noted by Reuters, she has also had noteworthy performances in the 2007 movie “Drive Thru” and the HBO hit series “Entourage” in which she shared a performance with singing sensation Tony Bennett. Meester is also reportedly set to star in two films to be released in 2010.
