The man deemed the Craigslist killer is reportedly unable to afford legal representation.
Wired PR News – Philip Markoff, the man labeled the Craigslist killer, is reportedly unable to afford an attorney due to amassed student loan debt and unemployment. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the 23 year-old medical student who attended Boston University, is unable to afford his legal defense for murder charges in connection to the killing of Julissa Brisman in mid April.
As noted in the report, court records show that Markoff is eligible for court appointed legal representation due to his financial state. A document signed by a probation officer is quoted by the AP as stating, “(Markoff) stated he did not receive financial support from his family… (Markoff) further stated he was unemployed for a lengthy period of time and was essentially living off student loans in the amount of $130,000.”
