Texas is reportedly lagging behind other states as the nation shifts towards more environmentally friendly policies.
Wired PR News – The state of Texas is said to be in a battle against some efforts many believe would put the country on track to becoming a more environmentally sensitive nation. As reported by the Dallas Morning News, the state’s governor is in support of the notion that global warming does not result from emissions that are man-made, which some say presents an issue for changes in environmental policies.
Any Jaffe, who helps direct an energy program at Rice University, is quoted in the report as stating, “We’re stuck in 30-year-old thinking, not only in the companies, but in our politicians, and we’re not understanding that there is a sea change that is coming… There’s a lot of money to be made in that transformation, and we’re not preparing ourselves for it… The governor is really the problem.”
Texas Governor Rick Perry is quoted in the report as stating of the issue, “If the answer is Washington, D.C., then I would suggest to you that most people in America would rather go it alone… My argument here is that we have, by our own volition, by our own innovation, led the country in a lot of the alternative energy side of things.”
