Stress on the job may be harmful for the health of babies in the womb.
Wired PR News – Stress on the job for expectant mothers may lead to serious health complications for babies at birth. As reported by HealthDay News, a new study has proposed a link between work related stress for pregnant women and low infant birth weight.
As noted in the report Dutch researchers found after studying questionnaires of over 8,000 pregnant women that job stress could lead to increased risks for birth weight reduction. The researchers are quoted by HealthDay News as concluding, “Although pregnant women typically reduce their working hours or workloads at the end of the pregnancy, our results suggest that reducing job strain and working hours in the initial stages of pregnancy may be beneficial among women with stressful full-time jobs.”
As noted in the report, the study appears in the American Journal of Public Health online.
