Children may reportedly be ale to develop a tolerance to food allergies.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – New research suggests that kids may be able to build a tolerance for certain food allergens. As reported by HealthDay News, utilizing oral immunotherapy and sublingual immunotherapy processes and building an allergen tolerance through exposure to small food amounts may be beneficial in desensitizing children’s immune systems to foods that may cause a bad allergic reaction.
Dr. Michael Pistiner, American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology spokesman, is quoted in the report as stating of the research, “It is something that has been recently put into play… More and more of these trials have been started. It does seem to be very promising. It’s very exciting.”
As noted by HealthDay News, much of this type of research is currently in the trial stage.
