The entertainer is sued after allegedly refusing to do promotions for a 2006 film.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – Socialite and entertainer Paris Hilton is being sued by film investors over a contract dispute in connection to her alleged refusal to do promotional work for the 2006 film, “Pledge This.” As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the trial over the $8.3 million lawsuit began on Thursday.
Bryan West, an attorney for the film’s investors, is quoted in the report as stating at the opening of the trial, “During the six-month period, at no time would she take 10 minutes to do a phone interview.”
Michael Weinsten, Hilton’s attorney, is further quoted as countering the claim with, “Paris Hilton is a promotion machine… For 2 1/2 years, she relentlessly promoted that movie.”
As noted by the AP, Hilton reportedly made $1 million for her role in the film, which only earned an estimated $2.9 million.
