Many remain outraged over the arrest of a Harvard scholar who was reported for breaking into his own home.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – Many have continued to debate over the circumstances surrounding the arrest of a Harvard Scholar after he was reported as breaking into his own home. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Henry Louis Gates Jr., an African American Harvard scholar, was arrested for disorderly conduct last week when neighbors reported him as breaking into his home, and he was accused of yelling at police officers over the incident. Charges against Gates were recently dropped, however, many are debating over whether the scholar was a victim of racial profiling.
Gates reportedly established to officers that the home belonged to him, and there was no break in before being arrested. For this reason, many are accusing the officers of handling the situation in the manner in which they did due to Gates’ race.
The officer who made the arrest is quoted by the AP as stating of his actions, “There are not many certainties in life, but it is for certain that Sgt. Crowley will not be apologizing.”
