The singer has been acquitted on assault charges.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – Amy Winehouse has been acquitted on assault charges in Britain. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the singer was found not guilty by a judge Friday, after previously being charged with assaulting a fan who requested to take a picture of her after a charity event.
As noted by the AP, prosecutors in the case alleged that Winehouse deliberately punched Sherene Flash in the face; however, the singer claimed that she felt intimidated by the fan and only pushed flash on her camera. District Judge Timothy Workman reportedly dismissed the charges citing it had not been proven that Winehouse purposefully attacked the woman.
Winehouse is quoted in the report as stating of the case after leaving the courtroom, “I’m relieved. I’m going home.”
