Toronto, ON(WiredPRNews.com) — A lively crowd at the Augusta house was treated to an enchanting evening of delightful music, courtesy of jazz guitarist Zach Bandolin and keyboardist Ken Jones on May 29, 2009.
Some highlights included Bandolin’s lively cover of George Benson’s ‘Affirmation,’ which managed to capture the spirit of the original and provide a contemporary twist thanks to Jones’ synthesized accompaniment.
Much to the crowd’s delight, a cover of Larry Carlton’s ‘Smiles and Smiles to go’ was also another fluid reworking of a classic, with Bandolin upping the tempo and letting rip with his trademark effortlessly intricate licks.
Bandolin’s fusion of contemporary beats and silky smooth guitar fretwork was amply showcased in his original composition, ‘Sakura Nights’, which Bandolin played with virtuoso aplomb, spurred on by the crowd as he weaved solos around funky analogue synths.
Guest guitarists Joshua Lopez and Peter Mangaser also wowed the crowd with their performances, while singer Abby de Guzman charmed the audience with her soulful voice.
The always-friendly Augusta House host, Kim Bui, never failed at making sure patrons were served.
Bandolin’s audience erupted with enthusiastic applause as the last gliding notes of Santana’s ‘Europa’ were played, bringing an extremely satisfactory night of musicianship to a close.
