WWRL and Mark Riley launch new program “Working New York”

WWRL and Mark Riley launch new program “Working New York”New York, NY (October 1, 2009): WiredPRNews.com — WWRL 1600AM Radio is pleased to announce an exciting new show called “Working New York.” The program, hosted by longtime New York radio host and political commentator Mark Riley, airs Saturday afternoons from 2-5PM EST.

“This program is actually inspired by my father,” says Riley. “He not only embodied the American work ethic, but he taught me to have an abiding respect for working people, no matter how much they were paid in salary.

“My dad worked for the post office for 40 years, then worked another 15 at a hospital in Connecticut,” explains Riley. “As a small child, I remember seeing him get up every morning, locking his keys on his belt, and heading to the Grand Central Post Office in New York City.”

“Working New York” is a platform for people who are working, people looking for work, and people who have worked all their lives and are now retired. It’s a show for unionized workers, workers fighting to maintain their jobs, and all those New Yorkers who work hard to keep this city alive and well.

According to WWRL Program Director Rennie Bishop, “the consummate broadcast professional that is Mark Riley, and his unique New York knowledge, makes his contribution invaluable in these times of high unemployment, job insecurity and economic anxiety. Our listeners are definitely the winners.”

Mark Riley will be talking to elected officials, union officials, labor experts, and more. “But most important,” says Riley, “we’ll be talking to you, the hard working men and women of the New York City tri-state area.”

WWRL proudly boasts the most progressive talk in the nation. WWRL 1600AM, is licensed to Access 1 Communications Corp., and is a 24-hour African American owned and operated radio station serving the New York metro area.

Access 1 Communications Corp. also owns and operates 7 stations in Shreveport, LA; 7 in Tyler-Longview-Marshall, TX; 6 in stations in Atlantic City, NJ, and an NBC TV affiliate (WMGM-TV 40) in Atlantic City, NJ. The company also owns and operates SuperRadio; a syndication company that distributes over forty programs broadcasting to an estimated 100 million people combined, and is one of the two founding partners of American Urban Radio Networks.

Tune in to “Working New York” with Mark Riley, Saturdays, 2-5pm EST at 1600AM or stream live at http://www.wwrl1600.com
