Football player Stafon Johnson is recovering from a serious weight lifting accident that occurred Monday during a team workout.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – USC running back Stafon Johnson is reportedly recovering from a serious injury he suffered Monday during a routine workout with his team. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the 21 year-old football player, who became injured after a weight fell on his throat, is said to have likely survived the accident because of the structure of his neck.
Dr. Gudata Hinika, with California Hospital Medical Center, is quoted by the AP as stating of the accident, “Had that been any one of us, meaning me, we would have not survived…His neck was so solid, so muscular … and the discipline that one learns from being athletic also really helped him to calm down and just do what he needed to do. He took instruction very well. All this combination and his physical fitness contributed to his outcome.”
As noted in the report, Johnson’s condition is said to be stable following multiple surgeries.
