An employee of the news station has been charged with attempting to blackmail the late night talk show host.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – An employee of CBS has been charged in connection with an alleged plot to blackmail late night talk show host David Letterman. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Robert J. Halderman was arraigned on Friday after being charged with attempted grand larceny.
Halderman, a producer for the CBS program, “48 Hours,” reportedly pleaded not guilty to the charge and has been released on bail.
Letterman spoke about the controversy in a recent taping of his show. Letterman is quoted as stating to his audience about the attempted blackmail, “I was worried for myself. I was worried for my family…I felt menaced by this, and I had to tell them all of the creepy things that I had done.”
Letterman further remarked, “It’s been a very bizarre experience… I felt like I needed to protect these people. I need to protect my family. I need to protect myself. Hope to protect my job.”
