OTTAWA, ON (WiredPRNews.com) — One of Ottawa, ON dentists, Dr. Pamela Li has recently registered her practice as a care facility for the Give Back A Smile program. As an acting volunteer of the program, Dr. Li will provide free smile restorations to women who have been abused.
Give Back A Smile is a program founded by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Charitable Foundation (AACDCF). The program asks for dentists and laboratory technicians to volunteer their services to restore broken or damaged teeth and other oral damages as a result of domestic and intimate partner violence. The foundation aims to erase the scarring memories of an abusive relationship by restoring the smiles of victims at no financial cost to the patient.
“To be a part of the Give Back A Smile program is very important to me as a person and as a professional,” said Ottawa dentist Dr. Pamela Li. “I am in a position to make a difference for these women and boost their self-esteem.”
Dr. Li is an Ottawa, ON dental veneers, crowns, and denture treatment provider. She provides these services and other cosmetic and prosthetic procedures as part of her pro-bono agreement with Give Back A Smile. “There are no charges for materials or my services, and I am trying to get the lab costs covered as well,” said Dr. Li.
Because the Give Back A Smile program is a United States based effort, many Canadian women do not know that this program is available commented Ottawa cosmetic dentist Dr. Li. “Hopefully, word will spread and more dentists in Canada will join ranks and help the victims of domestic violence.”
Dr. Li has volunteered for 3 years at the Women In Transition (WIT) shelter. She has also volunteered her time doing a two-week medical mission in the Dominican Republic and spent one month volunteering at a hospital in St. Lucia.
