The city is seeing a dramatic increase in the number of open records requests.
Richardson, Texas (WiredPRNews.com) – Richardson is reportedly seeing a significant increase in the number of open records requests. As reported by the Dallas Morning News, the increase has presented a need for additional workers in the city secretary’s office. City Secretary Pamela Schmidt is quoted as stating of the impact the influx of requests is having, “We need staff… We need to get this done.”
Schmidt, who is also president of the Texas Municipal Clerks Association, is further stated in the report to note that other cities are also seeing increases in requests as well, although there is no evident trend on a broader scale.
As noted in the report, possible reasons for the increase may include the ability to file requests online and increased awareness about the right to certain information.
