Flower Mound (WiredPRNews.com) – A Flower Mound student is enlisting support via Facebook for his charity, which helps raise money for HIV patients in Africa. As reported by the Dallas Morning News, Jeff Lakusta’s Eyes on Africa Foundation is one of 100 charities in competition on Facebook for a prize of $1 million from the Chase Community Giving contest.
As noted in the report, the charity has already won $25,000 as a finalist in the competition. Lakusta is quoted by the Dallas Morning News as stating of his motivation for starting the foundation, “We always think we’re too young to do something in this world and we don’t know how to do it… You’re not born knowing how to make a difference. We’re as ready as we’re ever going to be to make a difference in the world.”
Voting for the contest reportedly began on Jan. 15.
